Conservation 2020
In 2015, Canada adopted the 2020 Biodiversity Goals and Targets for Canada, including a goal to expand protected lands to at least 17% by the year 2020. This is effort became known as Canada’s Conservation 2020. Reaching this goal means creating new parks, Indigenous Protected Areas and other protected areas. And ensuring more boreal lands, clean waters, animals and birds will be sustained for future generations.
Plus, these efforts are super popular with Canadians! A study in late 2017 found overwhelming support for conservation among Canadians across the country.
